New Year New stuff

Well it's a new year and it's time to really push things. The portfolio is coming along but half a million little problems have been complicating matters.

Among other things I needed to get a new computer and that alone took almost two months and that's before discovering my scanner no longer works with my computer (so I need a new one of those now) and it limited my ability to work for a good long while. The two pieces in this post are part of the next phase of my portfolio.

This is Asimov. A personal demon who rules in Asimov's Realm, one of my pieces depicted in the gallery here.

I had a lot of fun with the lighting and design here. I don't normally do symmetrical compositions and I don't normally like them but I admit to having a blast here and it was nice to do something that was all human (you know, minus the horns), as opposed to the mythical creatures I've been focused on.

This one is a magic character idea I had. His name is Bowen and I feel like I learned a lot from this one as well.

Now it's time for the new plan for the year. I've got several plans because it's time to kick things into high gear. I've got a few ideas for pieces and I'll need to work on all of them at the same time. Here's the plan for the next several pieces.

These are the things I need/want to get into my portfolio.

1. A full wrap around book cover. I want to demonstrate that I can do that sort of work since it's one of the areas I'd like to work in professionally. I've done covers before but not full wraps.

2. A romantic scene. It would be nice to show range.

3. An archer. I've got a plan for that kind of in my head right now.

4. I'd like to do a complex battle scene. Something with a lot of figures and action.
